German Literature 3, 4

  1. The course includes historical, social, cultural and literary-historical overview of German literature since 1850. The focus is an overview of the most important periods in the literature including: Romantism, Realism, Naturalism, Impressionism, Expressionism, the Third Reich literature and Exile-literature, Postmodernism and the contemporary literature.
  2. The course examines texts about the socio-historical, cultural and historic features and the specific features of the Austrian literature during its development with a special emphasis on the “Habsburg myth” presented in the Austrian literature. The Austrian literary tradition in the period among 19 and 20 century and the appearance of the Vienna Modern with a focus on the issues related to the aesthetics spirit of this period of time.
