Language MOOCs and OERs: new trends and challenges

The Faculty of Arts of University of Porto (PT), in collaboration with the University for Foreigners of Perugia (IT), the University of Masaryk (CZ), the Jagiellonian University (PL), the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University Skopje (MK), and the Federazione Nazionale Insegnanti Centro di Iniziativa per l’Europa – FENICE (IT), partners for the project LMOOC4Slav – Romance Languages for Slavic-Speaking University Students, funded under the Erasmus+ programme, organizes the International Conference “Language MOOCS and OERS : new trends and challenges”, to be held in Porto on 7-8 October 2022.

Call for papers (new deadline: June 30, 2022)

The conference aims to bring together higher education professionals, applied linguists, and language technologists working on issues related to language learning and teaching, namely: MOOCs, OERs, new approaches in language teaching and learning, academic mobility, linguistic description of languages, linguistic diversity, language for specific purposes, digital transformation in Education and new educational technologies, new collaboration projects, multiculturalism, and inclusion.

We invite proposals on, but not limited to, the following themes of the conference:

  • LMOOCs design
  • MOOCs and OER/OEP for language teachers’ development
  • Pedagogical approaches in LMOOCs and OERs
  • Assessing LMOOCs
  • LMOOCS and skills development
  • LMOOCs for improving multilingualism and interculturality
  • Mobile-assisted language teaching and learning
  • Informal language learning and technologies
  • Virtual classrooms, eLearning, and ePortfolio
  • Technologies and/or Multimedia for Languages for Specific Purposes
  • Validation and certification of language skills through MOOCs
  • Learning strategies development through online environments/platforms
  • Mobility – online environments/platforms

Conference presentation modalities

  1. Oral presentations
    Presentations should be no longer than 20 minutes. Presentations will be followed by a 10-minute discussion.
  2. Posters
    Posters should not be larger than A0 size (118.9 x 84.1 cm, Landscape or Portrait).
    Authors are requested to be present during the poster sessions.
